How Are the Lines Presented

In Balance Bet, all betting lines are displayed using the American odds format by default. This format is widely used in sports betting across the United States and provides an intuitive way to understand the risk and reward for a given bet.

Future Updates

In upcoming releases, Balance Bet will include an option to switch between American and Decimal odds, making it easier for players worldwide to interact with the Slate and the Game Page. For now, enjoy mastering the American odds format and exploring your potential payouts!

Understanding American Odds

American odds are expressed as either positive (+) or negative (–) numbers:

Positive Odds (+):

Represent the potential profit on a 100-coin bet. These are typically associated with underdogs (less likely to win).
Example:

Odds: +200

Bet: 100 coins

Winnings: 200 coins profit (total payout = 300 coins, including your stake).

Negative Odds (–):
Represent the amount you need to bet to win 100 coins. These are typically assigned to favorites (more likely to win).
Example:

Odds: –150

Bet: 150 coins

Winnings: 100 coins profit (total payout = 250 coins, including your stake).

Conversion to Decimal Odds

We understand that some players may prefer Decimal Odds, which are commonly used outside the United States. Here’s how to convert:

  1. Positive American Odds:
Add 1 to the decimal equivalent of the odds.
    Example: +200 → 3.0 (1 + 200/100).

  1. Negative American Odds:
Divide 100 by the absolute value of the odds, then add 1.
    Example: –150 → 1.67 (1 + 100/150).
